Laughter in a dream is read less as a mood than as a discharge — pressure leaving the body through a channel that does not require explanation. Readings in this tradition consistently split it in two directions: laughter that follows genuine relief or delight, and laughter that arrives where something is uncomfortable and needs covering. Which one is meant is usually decided by what surrounds it rather than by the sound itself.
What makes laughter distinctive is that it is largely involuntary and socially exposed at once. It is taken to signify material that has escaped the dreamer's usual management — feeling that got out before it could be shaped.
